CAN Europe submitted its feedback to the public consultation of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) and Gas (ENTSOG) on their Ten Year Network Development Plans (TYNDP) 2020 for electricity and for gas.
The TYNDPs are the masterplan for Europe’s energy infrastructure. They suggest and evaluate where to plan cross-border power lines and pipelines.
CAN Europe criticises that these plans still foresee an important role for fossil fuels, in particular fossil gas. This is neither in line with the Paris Agreement nor with the EU’s enhanced 2030 climate target.
