With just one day to go, we are in the final push to ensure COP28 delivers final decisions that truly address the urgency of the climate crisis without casting a shadow over the future of our planet and the communities most vulnerable to the devastating effects of climate change.
“It’s expected that the COP28 Presidency will bring near final texts on Monday morning. We continue to call on the European Union, as one of the actors with the greatest historical responsibility and financial resources, to lead the global fight against climate change.
Concrete steps to phase out fossil fuels within this decade, including clear means of implementation to make this shift happen, are the outcomes expected by citizens across the globe and would represent a rapid, just and equitable global response to the increasing climate impacts on the most climate vulnerable communities.
We urge the EU to remain united and vocal, bring an end to the fossil fuel era once and for all, stick to climate science, build bridges with the most climate vulnerable countries, and support communities already grappling with the loss and damage caused by climate change.” – Chiara Martinelli, director of Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe
