In reaction to the discussion on the Governance Regulation taking place in the European Parliament’s Industry and Environment Commitees today, Caroline Westblom, EU Climate and Energy Policy Coordinator at CAN Europe said:
“Today’s debate in the Parliament sent a clear signal that many MEPs are in favour of scaling up EU climate action beyond the current 2030 targets to be more consistent with the Paris Agreement. The ambitious report on the Governance Regulation, which is the first genuine call for aligning EU laws with the Paris Agreement, was met with a positive response. Now the MEPs must step up to the mark and align the provisions in all other energy and climate files with the ambition level set out in the governance report.”
