Nature Restoration Law survived the EPP group’s attack: not dead, but severely wounded

Climate Action Network Europe climate and land use policy officer Erich de Castro Dias said:

“Today, we are deeply shocked at the lack of concern shown by the right-wing groups towards the biodiversity crisis and the climate emergency. Nature restoration and climate action go hand in hand. Today, a vital piece of climate legislation, the Nature Restoration Law, came under serious attack and was severely watered down by the political right. To tackle biodiversity loss and mitigate climate change, we urge particularly the members of the EPP group and individuals from the Renew Europe party to reevaluate their approach and support nature restoration in the upcoming vote in the committee and plenary and recognise how crucial it is in securing a sustainable and safe future for humanity.
