08/06/2023 Submission to TYNDP 2024 Scope of Studies and Stakeholder Engagement Plan

CAN Europe has provided its feedback to the June 2023 public consultation concerning the TYNDP 2024 scope of studies and stakeholder engagement plan by the ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity. ENTSO-E is the association for the cooperation of the European transmission system operators (TSOs). The 40 member TSOs representing 36 countries are in charge for a secure and coordinated operation of Europe’s electricity system.

TYNDP is a Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP) that provides an overview of the European electricity and gas infrastructure, which is updated on two-year cycles. In June 2023, CAN Europe provided comments on the part(s) of the TYNDP that are of key interest, time horizons, stakeholder engagement plan, and explored areas of improvement. CAN Europe is following the European TYNDP process, and interested in how the ten-year planning, facilitated by the ENTSOs, can assist and be improved for Europe to become the first climate-neutral continent, expedite Europe to move towards a more sustainable, digitalised, electrified, and renewables-based energy system, which makes use of flexibility and distributed resources.

08/08/2023 Submission to TYNDP 2024 Scenarios Input Parameters

CAN Europe has provided its feedback to the public consultation of the ENTSO-E and ENTSOG public consultation on the TYNDP 2024 Scenarios Input Parameters in August 2023.

The submission follows a Storylines Report of the TYNDP 2024 scenarios, published jointly by ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity and ENTSOG, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas. The materials to be consulted included key underlying data sets and modelling methodologies, which are considered to be a key deliverable in the process for TYNDP 2024 scenario building, as outlined by Regulations 943/2019 and 715/2009.

CAN Europe follows the European TYNDP process, and it assessed the overall framework, as well as provided its comments on the quantification of underlying assumptions for the TYNDP 2024 scenarios, and the datasets on topics such as energy demand, supply, modelling methodologies, and carbon budget methodology.
