Sharing Stories for a Just Transition

In the Western Balkans region, the dependence on coal-powered plants for electricity supply is deeply entrenched. Given the urgent need to transition away from coal, it is vital to support local communities in their efforts to move away from all fossil fuels. This calls for a just and inclusive energy transition, one that champions fairness and equity and that entails fair distribution of benefits, acknowledging and honouring the rights of all involved.

Inspired by these fundamental principles, the stories below aim to amplify the voices in the coal impacted communities in the Western Balkans and to stand as a platform with the goal to inspire others to embrace action on the shared path towards the collective vision of a future without coal and for a just energy transition where no one is left behind.
