Call for Applications – Second edition of the CAN Europe Training for Journalists on Climate Disinformation in the Western Balkans: Climate Ambition Ten Years after the Paris Agreement and towards COP30

Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe invites applications from journalists for a regional training focused on climate disinformation, climate reporting, the COP30  and new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

The in-person training will take place in Ohrid, North Macedonia, from 1 to 3 September 2025.

It will gather journalists from the Western Balkan region committed to deepening their understanding of climate negotiations and strengthening their reporting on climate and energy issues in the Western Balkans.

What to Expect: 

    • Interactive sessions on climate science, policy, and negotiations;

       

    • Insights into disinformation trends around COP30 and NDCs;

       

    • Practical tools for accurate, impactful climate reporting; 

  •  

    • Opportunities to connect with regional experts and fellow journalists.

       

Eligibility Criteria

 Applicants must:
    • Be nationals of, from, and currently based in one of the six Western Balkans countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia);

    • Be professional journalists with an interest in reporting on climate and/or energy issues;

    •  Include a CV highlighting relevant experience in their application;

Logistics

  • Land travel within the Western Balkan 6 and accommodation costs will be covered for selected participants;

  • The training will be held in English.
