CAN Europe hosts second edition of the Youth Climate Forum: Voicing Youth Demands in NDCs 3.0

On 12 June 2025, CAN Europe hosted the Regional Youth Climate Forum “Voicing Youth Demands in NDCs 3.0” at Europe House in Skopje, as part of LCOY North Macedonia.

The event brought together youth activists and civil society representatives from across the Western Balkans to exchange national perspectives, discuss shared climate challenges, and highlight youth priorities for the ongoing NDCs 3.0 process.

Moderated by Frosina Antonovska, Climate and Energy Policy Coordinator at CAN Europe, the session opened with a round of structured discussion. Representatives  from the Western Balkan six countries reflected on the main climate challenges facing young people in the region, the barriers to engaging in policymaking, their previous experiences on formulating national youth declarations in Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as other examples of good practices in youth mobilisation and collaboration.

The discussion continued with an open forum, where all youth participants contributed reflections, built on each other’s experiences, and formulated common demands ahead of COP30. Youth representatives called for stronger institutional recognition, more inclusive climate planning processes, and meaningful youth involvement in shaping the 2035 Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

The forum provided a space for connection and cooperation between youth and civil society, reinforcing regional solidarity and strengthening the voice of young people in the Western Balkans.
