Thi is a project implanted by Germanwatch and Balkan Green Foundation and funded by German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Engagement Global. The project duration is from April 2018 until end of April 2020 (24 months)

Aim of the project

The aim of the project is bringing different stakeholders together (core team), for discussions concerning the Energy Transition in Kosovo, with a focus on the Security of Supply. The Core team consisted of CSOs, agencies, government, media and academia.

Activities and the results of the project so far

  • 2 lighthouse projects implemented; one solar fruit dryer and 1 solar panel system (pics below)
  • 1 Policy Recommendations Paper drafted for the NECP.
  • A study on the prospects of an energy transition in Kosovo prepared with European experts (10 authors), published and presented to the public (https://germanwatch.org/sites/default/files/2018-09/Study%20Phasing%20in%20Renewables.pdf )
  • Workshops held with stakeholders/Core Team.
  • Study trips to Germany
