Call for Registration: CAN Europe Western Balkans Youth Climate Forum 2024

Europe in transition

Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe, Europe’s leading NGO coalition fighting dangerous climate change, is pleased to announce an open call for applications to the “Western Balkans Youth Climate Forum 2024”, a program designed for participants between the age 18-30 interested in deepening their knowledge on climate and energy-related issues in the Western Balkans.

DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION EXTENDED: 25 SEPTEMBER 2024

The Forum will bring together teams of young participants from the Western Balkans Six countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia) to explore critical topics related to climate and energy, climate diplomacy and climate negotiations. The program will also tackle the growing challenge of disinformation and its impact on decision-making processes at the governance level while shaping the perception of public opinion on climate and energy policies.

To foster a comprehensive approach on the topic, the Forum will be consisting in four distinct phases:

Capacity building program (Online)

[2nd-3rd October]

Dive into climate literacy, climate and energy policies, tackle climate disinformation, explore international climate strategies, and discover the pivotal role of youth in climate diplomacy, debate, and conflict resolution together with CAN Europe experts.

Competition phase 1: Scouting narratives (Offline work)

[3rd -25th October]

Hunt down the region’s most pressing disinformation and misinformation narratives around climate and energy. Collaborate with your team to craft a compelling analysis that stands out. Whether through video, presentation, or essay, we encourage you to get creative and showcase your unique perspective.

Competition Day: Present Your Work (Online)

[October 31st]

Showcase your analysis to a panel of international climate experts! Your team presentation will be judged on the relevance of the topic, clarity, thoroughness, and depth of insight. The team that delivers the most compelling analysis across these criteria will receive a study trip as an award.
