COPs| Climate action| Global transition

On 2 October 2024 CAN Europe hosted a live broadcast where a global panel of experts discussed the anticipated EU decision ahead of negotiations for a new international climate finance goal, which countries are to agree upon at COP29.

During the discussion the speakers explored what implications the upcoming meeting of EU finance ministers on 8 October will have on the intensified international finance negotiations – and the implications of the new goal for the future of climate vulnerable developing countries and the entire climate system. The experts also delved into how the EU, previously seen as a bridge builder in the UNFCCC, is expected to show increased leadership in this process, seen as a critical stress test of the Paris agreement.
