Funding Fairer Futures is an initiative dedicated to strengthening the climate movement and building capacities for an inclusive, just transformation, by ensuring that the needs and perspectives of diverse stakeholders, including often marginalised communities, are heard and reflected in climate action.
We are officially launching the first calls for proposals across five different funds dedicated to supporting civil society organisations and groups in delivering impactful awareness-raising, campaigning, advocacy, and community engagement projects that create more just and sustainable futures for all. CAN Europe is coordinating the Climate Action Engagement Fund.
Key focus
Through the Climate Action Engagement Fund, CAN Europe will fund CSOs and groups promoting just transition and climate justice in the European Union, Western Balkans and Turkey, via awareness-raising, campaigning, mobilisation, public engagement and advocacy activities.
Campaigning on Just Transition
We are looking for partners that will actively shape and engage in a joint campaign for a Just Transition. How do we understand Just Transition? A systemic shift towards an equitable, sustainable and inclusive society that tackles the root causes of social and environmental injustices within economic, political, and social structures.
With this campaign we aim to advance the justice dimension of four guiding pillars:
- Ending reliance on fossil fuels and boosting green transition,
- Leveraging the transition to create better lives,
- Transforming food systems and agriculture,
- Securing the financial resources necessary to drive the transition.
We welcome your project ideas that can enrich this ongoing initiative and support these pillars. Proposals in other areas which strongly contribute to a just transition and climate justice will also be considered. We encourage proposals that help strengthen civil society and challenge systemic inequalities, two key cross-cutting areas of the campaign.
