RAA Tracker

RAA Tracker

RAA Tracker

This online tracker, produced by Climate Action Network (CAN) Europe and the European Environmental Bureau (EEB), provides an overview of the progress selected Member States have made in designating Renewable Acceleration Areas (RAAs) and transposing the Renewable Energy Directive’s (RED III) new rules on spatial planning. It aims to highlight good practices, identify gaps, and support constructive dialogue with national authorities and EU institutions.

Building on the expertise of national member organisations and partners, this RAA Tracker monitors national progress towards the February 2026 RAA designation deadline. It provides an evidence-based overview of how countries are identifying, designating, and operationalising RAAs, assessing compliance with RED III and applying civil society criteria for environmental safeguards, biodiversity protection and public participation.
