Ahead of the October 2026 Environment and Energy Council meetings, the Coalition for Higher Ambition is calling on EU Member States to support a robust and ambitious climate and energy framework for the post-2030 period.
In a joint statement addressed to the EU Presidency and national Environment, Climate and Energy Ministers, the Coalition, bringing together European businesses, local and regional government networks, and civil society organisations, sets out key priorities for maintaining momentum towards climate neutrality while strengthening Europe’s competitiveness, energy security and resilience.
The statement calls for a framework aligned with at least 90% net domestic emissions reductions by 2040, a strong and predictable EU Emissions Trading System, continued binding national climate and energy targets. It also highlights the need for increased public and private investment to support a fair and effective transition across Europe.
